ZÜRICH
SWITZERLAND
My Thoughts
I have quite mixed feelings about Zurich. In my opinion and that of many friends, the consensus seems to be that Zurich is a business city. While there’re some cultural experiences to be had, nightlife is unremarkable and the city did not feel very lively. The food was great, given the mix of French, German, and Italian cuisine, emblematic of Swiss culture. Everything from food to transportation to hotels were unquestionably very expensive, even by New York standards, and that’s before you factor in the unfavorable Franc-to-USD exchange rate. Zurich may definitely be worth a day or two as a stopping point between, say skiing in the alps or visiting Bavaria’s Neuschwanstein Castle. However, I’d advise most not to stay longer than that given both the lack of energy I felt in Zurich, in addition to the high cost of living.
