Four Seasons Whistler
Hey everyone!
Today I’m sharing my experience staying at the Four Seasons in Whistler, Canada. I visited during the summer of 2016 with my family, and we had an amazing time. Even during the off-season, Whistler was bustling, with a variety of different activities catering to summer visitors.
I’ve stayed at a few different Four Seasons hotels, and this location was one of my favorites. The designers did a great job combining the luxury expected of a Four Seasons with local textures, colors, and indigenous design.
Whistler’s famous for being one of the best places to ski in Canada. It was put on the map internationally for its role in hosting the 2010 Winter Olympics in nearby Vancouver. It’s also widely regarded as one of the best places to ski in Canada. Given we visited during the summer, we didn’t have a chance to do any skiing. Although, there were plenty of things to do in Whistler during the summer. We did a Jeep tour of Blackcomb Mountain, went alpine sliding, and rode mountain bikes across the city’s mountains. With some background out of the way, let’s get into the actual review.
My family and I left the Fairmont Vancouver and took the hour and a half-long drive up to Whistler. It was a beautiful ride and an awesome way to experience the natural beauty of British Columbia’s landscape.
I was really impressed by the Four Seasons. As I mentioned, the design was beautiful, a mix of a modern, amenity-clad resort along with the convenience of a ski-lodge. Approaching the hotel, my first impression was its size. Multiple wings define this Four Seasons, and the building as a whole was gorgeous.
The color scheme really fits in with that of the forest and mountains of Whistler. Check-in was smooth, and the level of service at this location was top-notch. The one constant of every Four Seasons I’ve been to is the fantastic service, and rightfully so considering the sometimes exorbitant nightly rate. The lobby was particularly beautiful and had some nice seating areas for waiting to check-in.
We made our way to our rooms and I developed a greater appreciation for the beauty of the property. There were multiple restaurants in the hotel and even an art gallery! The main restaurant, Sidecut, has a wide variety of cuts of meat and excellent seafood. We ate here several times and the experience was always great.
The hotel had a bunch of amenities, including an excellent concierge, a fitness center with locker rooms, and multiple pools. The outdoor pools were fantastic in the heat of the summer. With Whistler having seasonal tourism, mostly catering to winter attractions like skiing, visiting during the Summer was great as the village was less crowded than it would get in the peak snow season. Whistler was certainly was not dead during the summer, and as I mentioned, there were a ton of outdoor activities.
We booked two of the Deluxe Rooms, which had more than enough room for a few days’ stay. The hotel left welcome gifts of a bottle of champagne, sodas, and snacks, including some delicious fudge. It was a great treat and a super welcoming gesture. The room was really large and rather nice. It wasn’t super modern but had a nice, spacious layout. Since we visited the property, the hotel has gone through some renovations and updated the decor of the rooms. The hotel wasn’t super outdated but definitely wasn’t modern at the time. Regardless, the room was definitely luxurious as it was then.
The views from our room were fantastic! We had a view of the mountains surrounding Whistler and parts of the resort. We witnessed a stunning sunset from the balcony nearly every night we were there. The hotel really blends-in and complements the natural beauty of the town itself.
I was really impressed with this Four Seasons, particularly with the excellent staff, delicious food, the abundance of amenities (even during the off-season), and close proximity to the downtown village of Whistler. The recent renovations, along with the great experience I had at this property, motivate me to come back to the resort during the winter months. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to experience the natural beauty of British Columbia–the Four Seasons makes for a luxurious, yet authentic mountain getaway.
