Air France A380 Economy

Hello Readers! This is my first post on my new site! I took this flight a few months ago from JFK to Paris Charles De Gaulle over spring break. So to start off, I hoped on a bus from school to take us to the airport from where I live in Westchester (this was with my school). We got there about 3.5 hours before our flight.

Air France Check In

Air France Check In

Check - In was great. Staff were friendly and the automated boarding pass printer was very easy and there was no line. I got my bags checked in and went through security. It was excruciating. I had to stand there slowly moving for almost 45 minutes. It was hell. However, that is not Air France's fault - there were a few other flights leaving in the same time period. After wandering around a bit with some friends and a failed attempt at getting into the Lufthansa Senator Lounge, it was time to head to the gate. The group relaxed for a few minutes and then we started boarding. It was quite long. It really was a great visual of how many people the A380 holds - almost 500! We were on the plane in about 20 minutes. I settled in as boarding was just ending. It was quite a pleasant surprise. The entertainment system was great and had a large selection. The seat was also quite roomy with above average leg room. The one thing I did not like was the awkward space between the seat and the wall. It made it so that I could not sleep on the wall without slipping a foot down. It was very uncomfortable. If you can, bring a neck pillow.

Once everyone boarded, the captain announced our flight time of about 6.5 hours. At this point I discovered the awesome A380 tail camera. It was cool to watch the aircraft taxi to the runway from a third-person view. It sounds like such a small detail, however I could not stop looking at it throughout the flight!

We took off a little late at around 7:40. After a steady climb, the flight attendants handed out menus and drinks. There were many drinks on offer - many sodas, and different types of alcohol . The dinner options were a chicken with wine sauce or salmon. I choose the chicken which in my opinion, was delicious.

Very good for airline food. My friend who was sitting next to me choose the salmon. She said it was decent by not great. In my opinion, it looked quite unappetizing. We finished up our meal and then me and a group of my friends decided to explore a bit. We headed up the stairs and made our way through Premium Economy and Business class, We never found the lounge though. Our group decided to hang out in the galley for a bit before finally chilling out for the rest of the night.

I couldn't fall asleep so I decide to peruse the entertainment selection and settled on the movie "22 Jump Street". Once my movie came to an end, I decided to get some shut-eye. I never truly fell asleep by was rather dozing in and out for an hour or two. None the less, I still felt a bit refreshed after.

The cabin lights came on a bit after I woke up, and the flight attendants came around with breakfast. Sadly I do not have a picture of it however, breakfast consisted of fresh fruit, an omelette, and a croissant (typical Parisian haha). At this point, the captain also announced our decent. I couldn't believe it had been almost 6 hours already! Probably due to my excitement for the trip with my friends, however being on the AF A380 didn't hurt ;).

Approaching Paris

Approaching Paris

We touched down a bit early at around 7:30 am at CDG. It was a great flight, and maybe the best option for nonstop New York to Paris. I would definitely recommend Air France to anyone traveling to or from Paris. Best Regards, Sam
